Myvatn Lake

Myvatn Lake is one of the largest in Iceland. The town of Reykjahlid is situated at the northern shore. From here you can easily explore as much or as little of the lake as you like, but on and off shore. There are opportunities to rent boats or take boat cruises on the waters. On dry land, you can take horse riding treks, hike on well-marked trails, or drive the 36km road around the lake. The Hverfell-Dimmuborgir trail system around the lake would take at least a day to explore in full. There are plenty of places to stay around the lake.
