The Natural History Museum in Akureyri is a popular museum worth visiting whilst in the area. It is part of the Icelandic Institute of Natural History, with another museum in Reykjavik. Here in Akureyri, you’ll see exhibits of all the different bird species in Iceland and their eggs. There are also extensive exhibitions of the natural plants, fauna, lichens and mushrooms to be found in Iceland. As a working research institute, there are always new samples and exhibitions to enjoy. There is a small entrance fee to the museum.
