The Natural History Museum of Iceland is a public building that is government funded. The museum contains laboratories which research and monitor the natural plants and other wildlife of Iceland. Scientific specimens are also kept for scientific purposes along with databases, literature and photographs of Icelandic nature. There is also information on sustainable use of natural resources and conservation of land and habitats. The museum is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and entrance is free.
