Stykkisholmur’s local history museum is located in one of the town’s most historic and interesting buildings. The Norska Húsiđ, or Norwegian House, dates from 1832 and was originally a trader’s town house. The museum today is a great place to learn about the history of Stykkisholmur, with local history displays and a recreation of a 19th century Icelandic house. The museum also has collections of domestic and agricultural machinery, such as sewing machines, butter churns and skiing equipment. It is open in the summer months.
