Oddskard Mountain Pass

Oddskard mountain pass is 705 meters above sea level and lies between the bays of Eskifjord and Nordfjord. On either side of the pass are valleys containing interesting wildlife and plant species. To the west of the pass is a large mountain, Mount Svartafjall. In winter the pass was closed often due to snowy weather, and this caused communication difficulties. A tunnel therefore was built underneath it and was completed in 1977. The tunnel is 626 meters long and has improved communication either side of the pass greatly. Oddskard has its own ski resort.
