The Old Harbour in Reykjavik is the first harbour of the town and was build between 1913 and 1917. Before it was built ships has to offload their cargo onto short piers which extended to warehouses on Orfirisey, and easily accessible strip of land to ships. The harbour allowed trading in Reykjavik to develop extensively as goods could now be brought directly to the centre of the town. Over the years the face of the harbour has changed constantly as improvements have been made, and a marina was added in 2003.
