The Ósvör Maritime Museum is one of the main attractions in Bolungarvík, in western Iceland. This is an open air museum which comprises a number of old sheds and buildings on the edge of the town. The museum is dedicated to telling the history of local fishing trades, with methods of salting on display. In each hut you’ll see how fishermen traditionally lived and worked. There are hundreds of items filling the huts, which are all genuine artefacts from times gone by. The museum is open during the summer months, and has an admission fee for adults.
