Pingeyri Church

One of the most historic buildings in Şingeyri is the church. It was built frm 1864 to 1877, opening in September of that year. It is built of stone (quite unusual in Iceland) in a Romanesque style, with incredibly thick walls. Inside you can see the marvelous ceiling, with 1000 golden stars positioned across it. The windows are also noteworthy. This church is still in use and welcomes visitors.
