Porshofn is a small town in north eastern Iceland. It was once well known and prosperous due to the herring fishing industry in the early 20th century. This has since disappeared sadly, leaving the town to quieten its pace and rely more on other industries. It still features a pretty harbour and many attractive buildings. There are places to stay, eat and shop, and there is a swimming pool to enjoy. A festival is held in Porshofn every July.
