Reykholt features a church which is one of the newest in Iceland – built between 1988 and 1996. It is located near the Snorrstofa centre, and is a lovely contemporary building with lots of colourful stained glass windows. Despite its youth, the church actually has a 600 year old organ installed, which was originally in Reykjavik’s church. It also has an early Lutheran baptismal font. The church is popular with worshipers, and also features a music festival each July.
