The Reykjavik Settlement Exhibition is on the site of a Viking-age longhouse which dates back to around 930 AD. Parts of the longhouse were excavated in 2001 and the ruins are now on display as part of the museum, making the oldest archeological findings in Reykjavik. The exhibition uses multimedia equipment to reconstruct and educate visitors about the lives of the people who lived in the long house and the Viking settlers in Iceland. A scale model of the long house is also on display. The exhibition is open daily from 10am.
