The River Gilsá is just north of the bay of Fáskrúðsfjörður and joins the ocean near to the farm at Brimnes. The river is, like many in Iceland, full of beautiful waterfalls and these make strolling along the river pleasant and scenic for visitors. Just a 15 minute walk from the main road is one of its highest waterfalls which is placed so it is possible to go behind the flow of water and explore the back of the waterfall.
