Seltun Geothermal Area

The Seltún geothermal area is located near the town of Krýsuvík, north of Krýsuvík church along Route 42. The area is highly interesting to visit, with colourful soil surrounding bubbling mud pools containing foul-smelling steam fumaroles and hot sulphurous water springs. There is a car park with a path taking visitors around the site, and they should be careful not to leave the path as the thin earth crust in this area may break when stepped on.
