Skálanes is the name of a farm situated at the south of Seyðisfjörður. It used to be lived in all year round but now it is only habited in the summer months, May to September. There are thousands of birds at Skálanes in the summer months of over 40 species, so for this reason it is an ideal spot for birdwatchers. It is also an area that is conserved for the protection of Icelandic wildlife and animals. From the shore occasionally whales and seals can be spotted.
