Skardsvik Beach can be found alongside the small community of Öndverđarnes at the westernmost tip of the Snaefellsnes park, on Route 574. The beach is reached via a small track over the ancient lava field. It is perfectly formed, and has magnificent sand and blue waters. At its back are black cliffs of lava. The spot is very isolated and will be deserted on most visits. A Viking grave was found here in the 1960s. A number of hiking trails lead to and from the beach over the lava fields.
