Skriduklaustur was the site of a monastery built in the 15th century. It is located a short distance away from the town of Egilsstadir in Iceland. Today a turf-roofed building stands on the site, which was home to Gunnar Gunnarsson, who was a well-known Icelandic author. Today the building is a dedicated museum and cultural centre to his life and writings. There is also an exhibition about the monastery’s history, with archaeological finds on display.
