Skrúður is an island located off the Icelandic coast east of the bay of Fáskrúðsfjörður. The island is made of rock with the top covered in grass. It is abundant in bird life and common species sighted include kittiwakes, gannets, petrels and puffins. The island has a cave called Skrúðshellir cave which is the largest ‘puffin cave’ in the world. Icelandic mythology tells of a giant living on the island who brought his bride to live in the cave from the town of Hólmar.
