Snaefellsjokull National Park is Iceland’s newest national park, formed in 2001. It occupies the Snaefells Peninsula in the west of the country, north of Reykjavik. The Snaefell volcano and glacier are the most famous in Iceland, and can be found inside the park. It was used by Jules Verne for his Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The park has many scenic views, hikes, walks, towns and attractions. The main visitor centre is at Hellnar, where you can find out all there is to do here. Various tour companies operate here also.
