Stöðvarfjörður is a small village in the east of Iceland. It has approximately 300 inhabitants who are mostly employed in the fishing or textiles industries. The village is located in an area of stunning natural beauty and is surrounded by mountains and the fjord, also called Stöðvarfjörður. The river Stöðvará, which flows into the fjord near to the ocean has many beautiful waterfalls along its length. The village has a stone museum which is the main attraction for visitors. In the surrounding area many different types of stones and minerals can be found.
