This museum is named after the sculpton Einar Jonsson (1874-1954) who donated his works to the Icelandic nation provided they were housed in a museum bearing his name. A suitable building was eventually built in its scenic location on top of a hill. There are 123 works by the artist in the building and adjacent sculpture garden which contain bronze casts of the artists work. The museum is closed in December and January, and also on Mondays.
