Tindastoll Mountain

Tindastoll is a large mountain near Saudarkrokur. It rises to 988 metres at its highest point, and is 18km in length. The mountain is prominent from anywhere around Skagafjordur. There is a fantastic view across the whole area from the summit. A walking trail leads there from ground alongside Route 745 on the western side of the mountain. All manner of legends about trolls and sea monsters surround the mountain in folklore. There is also an area of geothermal activity on the northern side of the mountain, known as Reykir.
