Iceland has a very strong fishing tradition, and the Reykjavik Maritime Museum exists to celebrate the maritime history of Iceland. Located in the beautiful old harbour of Reykjavik, the museum is a pleasant stroll from the centre of the town. The museum building was previously a freezing plant, and a display is present showing photographs of its factory days. The current exhibition in the museum is the story of the trawlers of Iceland. There are also displays and models of other fishing related topics. Admission is free.
