Vogastapi is the name of a large hilly area situated on the main road between Keflavik and Reykjavik. It’s nickname by locals is ‘The Cliff’, or ‘The Cove Cliff.’ It is actually an 80m high dolerite hillock between two coves - Vogavik and Njardvik. The surface facing the sea is sheer, but the inland side has a gradual gradient descent. The cliff is sparsely vegetated and barren in places, but makes a lovely climb with a fantastic view from the top. The cliff area is also said to be haunted by a ghost who aims to mislead people off the brink of the cliff.
