Situated in the town of Reydarfjordur, which was an allied base in the Second World War, is the World War II Museum. The museum contains information and articles on the second world war and the contribution made by Iceland and in particular the town of Reydarfjordur. It also gives an overview of the war from an Icelandic perspective and is popular with tourists and students. The museum is open from June to August.
